"Guildmaster's Straight From the Barrel" is now "The Strategist"

Why tho?

Throughout my life, I’ve tried my best to cut through surface-level understanding to see the systems and forces beneath. I model these, I make predictions. It has made me very good at thinking in processes, very good at thinking in systems, and very good at thinking in strategy.

It has also made me very bad at branding.

It turns out that if you saw “Guildmaster’s Straight From the Barrel” advertised to you as a newsletter you should read, you’d have no idea what Guildmaster is, and despite my attempt at a Whiskey metaphor, you may think you have a gun pointed at you.

So, after consulting with my branding and design expert, whom I really should consult more often and stop trying to figure this out on my own, we’re renaming things to “The Strategist”

Is it like the economist? Well, no, because the economist writes very long things, and this newsletter is for relatively short things.

Do I want you to think “the economist” when you see this? Well, maybe, because the economist is really smart, right?

We’ll still cover the same topics we did before: strategy, culture, process, systems, and design thinking. All with the same voice and perspective — cutting through the bullshit.

I’m glad you’re here!
